Gasoline with bioethanol will not lead to higher fuel prices - Ministry of Economy
Kyiv • UNN
Starting July 2026, the addition of 5% bioethanol to gasoline will become mandatory. The Ministry of Economy assures that this will not change prices and does not pose a threat of grain shortages.

The introduction of mandatory bioethanol blending in gasoline starting July 1, 2026, will not affect the cost of fuel at Ukrainian gas stations and will not pose threats to food security. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi during the "Yedyni Novyny" telethon, UNN reports, citing the Ministry of Economy.

According to Vysotskyi, after the transition to E5 and E10 standards, which require a mandatory 5% bioethanol blend in gasoline, no significant impact on prices is expected.
"Even today, some networks sell gasoline with bioethanol without a price increase, and in some places, it is even cheaper than regular gasoline,"
The Ministry also emphasized that fears regarding a possible corn shortage or a negative impact on the food market are groundless.
Vysotskyi explained that bioethanol production will not create a critical burden on the agricultural sector, and Ukraine has sufficient resource potential to meet both food needs and the production of fuel components.
The Ministry of Economy added that the implementation of bioethanol is part of Ukraine's adaptation to European environmental standards and the reduction of dependence on fossil fuels.
