Ukraine is preparing new standards for fuel control and quality
Kyiv • UNN
Ukraine is implementing European fuel quality standards and a mandatory share of biofuels. Euro-3 and Euro-4 classes, as well as A-80 and A-92 grades, will be withdrawn from circulation.

Ukraine is preparing to implement new environmental standards for fuel, specifically regarding the use of bioethanol in gasoline and the harmonization of requirements with EU norms. This was reported by the Ministry of Economy, according to UNN.
This is not only about the mandatory share of biofuel in gasoline but also about creating an effective quality control system for such fuel. It is necessary to update standards, testing methods, and verification approaches. This is also an important step for Ukraine to fulfill its European integration obligations, particularly the RED-II and RED-III directives,
During the discussion, the focus was on updating technical regulations for gasoline and diesel fuel, implementing European standards EN 228 and EN 590, as well as the gradual phase-out of Euro-3 and Euro-4 environmental classes.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of technical regulations for alternative motor fuels, which regulate the use of gasoline with an alcohol content ranging from 10% to 50%.
Participants of the thematic round table discussed the preparation of laboratories and control bodies for working with fuel containing bioethanol. Additionally, they supported the transition to the European fuel classification system instead of the Soviet designations A-80 and A-92.
However, for diesel fuel, control over the cloud point indicator will be maintained, taking into account Ukraine's climatic characteristics.
