Fuel Excise Tax Increase: Draft Law Passes Parliamentary Committee for Second Reading

A Verkhovna Rada committee has approved for the second reading a draft law to increase excise taxes on fuel, including liquefied natural gas, with the law expected to come into force on September 1, 2024.
The relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada has approved for the second reading the draft law No. 11256-2 on raising excise taxes on fuel, MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak from the Tax Committee said on Thursday, UNN reports.

"The Committee approved for the second reading the draft law on increasing excise taxes on fuel No. 11256-2. In fact, they left the version that the government had before the first reading. Thus, they returned the increase in excise taxation on liquefied gas (only from 2028, not 277 euros, but 250 euros stops)," Zheleznyak wrote on Telegram.
According to him, the law is expected to come into force on September 1, 2024.
