Police captain Dmytro Petrenko was killed in Donetsk region when a Russian drone hit his official car while he was on duty.

In Donetsk region, law enforcement officer Dmytro Petrenko was killed in an enemy attack on a police car. This was reported by the head of the National Police Ivan Vygivsky, UNN reports.

According to Vyhivskyi, every day the aggressor "hunts" police officers, who are a strong link in the country's security and defense forces, helping people, saving and protecting them, unfortunately, often at the cost of their own lives. Today, the police family has suffered an irreparable loss - another officer was killed in the line of duty.

"As a result of a Russian drone hitting a police car, a 38-year-old police captain Dmytro Petrenko, a community police officer of the Community Relations Sector of the Prevention Department of the Pokrovske District Administration, who was working in his territory, sustained life-threatening injuries. Dmytro started his service back in 2006. He was dedicated, kind and sincere. He helped people to the last day. Dmytro is survived by his wife, daughter and son, and parents," said the head of the National Police.

Vyhivskyi expressed his sincere condolences to the family and friends.
