"Emotions are overwhelming, I am very happy" - Ombudsman showed the return of four more Ukrainian children from occupation

Four more Ukrainian children have returned from the temporarily occupied territories, reported the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets on Friday on social media, following a statement from the White House about assistance in the case of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, writes UNN.

Thanks to the work of the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine within the framework of the initiative of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA and through the mediation of the First Lady of the United States of America Melania Trump, four more Ukrainian children are now on the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine. This is the fifth return that has taken place with the assistance of the U.S. First Lady Melania Trump

He expressed sincere gratitude to the U.S. First Lady for supporting Ukraine's humanitarian efforts aimed at returning our children. "This is very valuable and important for us!" - emphasized the Ombudsman, also thanking Ukrainian businesses.

Overall, thanks to persistent work, children aged 6 to 15 are now home! Each such return is a separate story. And each of them reminds us that war takes away the most precious thing from children - the opportunity to simply be with their loved ones

The Ombudsman shared their stories:

• A 6-year-old boy. When the Russian army began massively shelling their city, his parents were forced to evacuate. The boy himself was at that time with his grandparents in the temporarily occupied Luhansk region. The family could not return their son on their own. Finally, after a long separation, the boy was reunited with his loved ones;
• A 9-year-old girl, due to difficult life circumstances, remained with her great-grandmother in the temporarily occupied Kherson region. Lost documents deprived her of the opportunity to leave, and all attempts by her mother to return her daughter on her own proved unsuccessful. Now this story ends with the long-awaited reunion of mother and daughter;
• A 15-year-old teenager experienced the loss of both parents. After his mother's death, he remained alone in the temporarily occupied territory of Mariupol. Despite all the difficulties, the boy did not give up his desire to live with his sister in Ukraine. Now they are together;
• Another teenager is also 15 years old. The full-scale war separated him from his parents. His father and mother repeatedly tried to return their son, but received a ban on entry to Russia. After lengthy efforts, the family finally reunited.

"Emotions overwhelm me! I am very happy!" - these are the words of a mother who, after a long separation, was finally able to hug her child

"We continue to fight for every Ukrainian child. And we are returning our children, our future, and their right to live in their country next to their dearest people," - emphasized the Ombudsman.
