Elina Svitolina has won a strong-willed victory over Jessica Pegula with a score of 2:1 in the second round of the 2024 Olympic tennis tournament. In the next round, the Ukrainian will meet Wimbledon 2024 champion Barbora Krejcikova.
Elina Svitolina defeated Jessica Pegula 2-1 in sets in the second round of the singles tournament of the 2024 Olympics. This was reported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Elina Svitolina has advanced to the next round of the singles tennis tournament at the 2024 Olympics after a strong-willed victory over Jessica Pegula with a 2-1 set win.
The Ukrainian tennis player started the tournament in Paris with a confident victory over Japan's top-ranked player, Moyuki Uchujima, completing the match in an hour. This allowed Svitolina to set up her sixth head-to-head meeting with Pegula.
The first match between the tennis players in 2021 ended in Svitolina's victory, but since then the American has beaten the Ukrainian four times in a row, including at the Australian Open 2021 and the US Open 2023.
In the next round, Svitolina will face Wimbledon 2024 champion Barbora Krejcikova.
