Ukrenergo predicts a shortage of electricity next week due to the heat wave. Consumption may increase by 10-12%, and the company may take measures to limit consumption and attract assistance from European countries.

Ukrenergo warns of a shortage of electricity in the system next week amid the heat wave, with a possible increase in consumption by 10-12%. In the event of a significant increase in consumption, Ukrenergo promises to take "all necessary measures," including "if necessary, applying measures to limit consumption," UNN writes.

The company noted that next week, according to forecasts, we will have five days of heat. The temperature may rise to +28-30°C throughout Ukraine. As the thermometer rises to , Ukrenergo predicts a possible increase in consumption by 10-12%.

"In order to cover this level of consumption, it would be necessary to use additional capacity equal to the operation of several large power plants. Unfortunately, there is no additional capacity in the system," the company said.

In the event of a significant increase in consumption, Ukrenergo's dispatch center will take all necessary measures to balance the power system and compensate for the deficit. In particular, it will involve emergency assistance from European countries. If necessary - will apply consumption restriction measures

The company emphasized that it will help ensure the stable operation of the power system during the heat wave:

  • Economical consumption during the day, alternate use of powerful electrical appliances, reduce the use of air conditioners; 
  • Increase in electricity imports from the EU.
