Colonel Suzanne Myers was dismissed from Pituffik base after a letter in which she distanced herself from Vice President Vance's criticism of Denmark. Her comments, which did not reflect the base's position, led to a loss of confidence.

The US Space Operations Command has fired Colonel Suzanne Myers, commander of the Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, from her duties due to "loss of confidence in her ability to manage." This was reported by the BBC, citing the unit's press service, writes UNN.
Details
The head of the American military base, as indicated, was dismissed after she sent an email in which she distanced herself from Vice President Jay Dee Vance's criticism of Denmark.
Last month, Vance, during a trip to the Arctic island, criticized Denmark, which owns Greenland, for not providing more funds for security in the region, saying it was "doing a poor job" of addressing the challenges.
The email, published by an American military news website, stated that Vance's comments "do not reflect" the position of the Pituffik base.
Colonel Myers reportedly wrote after meeting with Vance on March 31: "I do not claim to understand current policy, but I know that the concerns of the US administration that Vice President Vance discussed on Friday do not reflect the position of the Pituffik Space Base."
Military.com, which published the email, reported that the US Space Force confirmed that the content of the letter is accurate.
Confirming that this was the reason for the dismissal, Pentagon chief press secretary Sean Parnell referred to Military.com in a post on X, writing: "Actions that undermine the chain of command or undermine the plans of President [Donald] Trump will not be tolerated by the Department of Defense."
The US Space Operations Command clarified that Colonel Sean Lee will replace Colonel Myers at the base in Greenland.
"Commanders are expected to adhere to the highest standards of conduct, especially regarding impartiality in the performance of their duties," the command said in a statement.
Addendum
During his trip to the island, Vance also reiterated Trump's desire to take control of Greenland for security reasons.
Following the visit of the US delegation, Greenland and Denmark presented a united front against the US accusations regarding Danish autonomy.
Recall
Secretary of State Rubio stated that the United States does not plan to annex Greenland, emphasizing respect for the self-determination of Greenlanders. He called on Denmark to focus on Greenland's desire for independence. A few days earlier, American leader Donald Trump said that the annexation of Greenland is inevitable, perhaps without military force. He added that the country is important for international security.
