Polgar thanked the initiators of her nomination, as well as the leader of the Hungarian opposition, Peter Magyar, for their trust.

I am proud of the initiative of the nominators for the position of President of the Republic, and I am extremely grateful for this

She also noted that she appreciates Peter Magyar's decision to nominate an independent candidate for the position of head of state, despite the significant parliamentary representation of his political force.

At the same time, Polgar stated that she is not ready to take on the responsibility that this position entails.

I do not feel strong enough to take on the historical responsibility of uniting a divided nation, so I cannot fully respond to the invitation

The chess player added that she will support the new independent President of Hungary and contribute to achieving goals aimed at uniting society.
