Details
According to the decision of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, a number of Russian researchers will be dismissed from joint projects with CERN this year. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already stated that this decision is "discriminatory" against Russian scientists.
We consider such actions to be politicized and absolutely unacceptable. The West is increasing pressure on our country in the field of basic science
CERN, which owns a unique set of particle accelerators, formalized its cooperation with the Soviet Union in 1967. CERN includes 23 countries, but Russia is not one of them, because after the aggressive invasion of Ukraine, and after the start of full-scale military operations against Ukraine in 2022, the organization stripped Putin's Russia of its observer status, and then decided to terminate the cooperation agreements with Moscow and Minsk.
To recap
The United States is ready to start bilateral talks with Russia and China on strategic arms control. This was stated by US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield on March 18, when she said that Washington was ready to start negotiations immediately and without any preconditions.
