Kyiv • UNN
The hearing to choose a measure of restraint against Oleh Poberezhniuk, commander of the 211th Pontoon and Bridge Brigade, was postponed to December 19. He is suspected of involving his subordinates in the construction of a private house instead of service.
Today, the Ternopil City District Court was supposed to choose a measure of restraint for the commander of the military unit 211 of the pontoon-bridge brigade, Oleh Poberezhniuk, but the hearing was postponed until December 19, UNN reports with reference to Suspilne.
Details
The hearing was postponed because the suspect said that his lawyer did not come to the hearing because he needed hemodialysis. Oleh Poberezhniuk asked to wait for his lawyer to be present, and therefore to postpone the hearing. The prosecutor was against this, because, according to him, there were no petitions to the court from the lawyer. The prosecutor said that a free legal aid lawyer could be appointed. However, Oleh Poberezhniuk demanded that the case be continued with the direct participation of his lawyer.
The judge considering the case is Yuriy Dzyubanovsky.
Recall
The investigation found that in the fall of 2023, he engaged four subordinates to build his house in Khmelnytskyi region instead of serving in combat zones. According to the documents, the soldiers were on the front line and received salaries and combat payments totaling almost a million hryvnias.
The house is being built in the Khmelnytskyi region on the territory of the Slobidsko-Kulchyievetska community. Suspilne correspondents were there and talked to the head of the community. He said that he did not know about the situation with the involvement of the military in the construction. And the house will be for the mother of a brigadier. Investigators, the head said, did not question him on this issue.
The Prosecutor General's Office said that they are also investigating possible illegal actions of the brigade officers: physical violence against subordinates, extortion of money and abuse of power. The investigation was assigned to the State Bureau of Investigation.
