An official of the Institute of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences extorted $21,000 from a farmer for permission to cultivate land

The deputy director of one of the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was notified of suspicion of receiving a bribe of $21.2 thousand from a farmer for granting the right to lease land and the right to cultivate it.
An official of the Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and two of her accomplices were exposed on a bribe of more than $21 thousand. This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports.

The deputy director of one of the institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was served a notice of suspicion of extortion and receipt of an illegal benefit, and two other persons are charged with aiding and abetting in its receipt (Article 368, part 4, part 5, Article 27, part 4, Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the official demanded $21.2 thousand from the head of the farm.
This amount was to be paid by the farmer for making payments under the last year's contract for cultivating 453 hectares of land owned by the institute and for the opportunity to conclude a lease agreement for the current year
It is reported that the deputy director of the institute acted in collusion with two acquaintances whom she engaged to receive a bribe.
The suspects were detained after receiving an illegal benefit. At the request of the prosecutor's office, the court imposed on them a preventive measure in the form of detention.
