In an interview with GQ, Amanda Seyfried talked about her most iconic characters, including her starring role in "Jennifer's Body," written by Diablo Cody. The film, directed by Karin Kusama, was not an instant hit, but in the years since its release in 2009, it has created a strong cult following that is fueling talk of a sequel.
In an interview, Seyfried expressed her love for the film and its universe.
"I can't criticize this film. It's a perfect film. Diablo Cody was outspoken, beautiful, smart and funny. And we were expressing a certain longing in a very, very specific comedic way in a very specific genre. God, the special effects were so incredible," she recalled. - There were stunts. There was everything you could want, and girl-on-girl action."
"Jennifer's Body" was not designed for the right audience - worried teenage girls - and Seyfried knows perfectly well how it worked against the 2009 film.
"If critics criticized anything, it was the marketing. The marketing sucks. It just sucks, and we all agree on that. Karin is a staunch defender of women," Seyfried said. - She is able to improve relationships between women in film and television. She is able to pull out everything she can, and she is very, very human and very sensitive. But I felt that she was deeply concerned about the story behind it all. She just took everything and put it all together so beautifully, and the marketing team cheapened it, as if it was just, you know, a mess, a bloody mess. I think they screwed it up, and I think Karin and Diablo were a really good team. And Megan and I are a really good team."
The actress also spoke about the possibility of returning in the sequel. She noted that she is ready to play her role as Needy again, but added an interesting point about the character Jennifer. According to Seyfried, she does not believe that Megan Fox's character died at the end of the first part.
"And I don't know where Megan would be? She's probably like someone's chief of staff. But she's kind of dead, right? But is she? I don't think she's dead," the actress said.
The actress also joked that the character Needy could end up in some position of power, such as in Planned Parenthood, and that she would gladly participate in the sequel when it is filmed.
Seyfried expressed hope for a sequel, confirming that she is already ready to return to the role of Needy if the project is implemented.
