Accident on the "blue line" of the metro: the mayor told about the work done

About 40% of the total amount of work on strengthening and repairing the Demiivska metro tunnel has already been completed. By the end of the summer, traffic between Demiivska and Lybidska stations may be fully restored.
About 40% of the total amount of work on its strengthening and further repair has been completed in the Demiivska subway tunnel. This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko in Telegram, UNN reports.
Klitschko said that today he visited the site near the Demiivska metro station, where excavation work is underway. According to him, 60 workers and more than 10 pieces of equipment are working there in three shifts.
According to the mayor, in two weeks it will be possible to see the upper part of the tunnel and whether the construction technologies were followed. After that, experts will be able to draw conclusions about the cause of the threat of an emergency in the Demiivska tunnel.
The tunnel itself is also undergoing the necessary work to strengthen it and to carry out further repairs. The contractor estimates that about 40% of the total work has been completed to date
He also emphasized that everything possible is being done to fully restore traffic between Demiivska and Lybidska stations at the end of the summer.

On December 8, new cracks appeared in the subway tunnel between Demiivska and Lybidska stations, with water seeping in, posing a real threat to the safety of passenger transportation. As a result, 6 stations of the "blue line" were closed for at least 6 months.
Later, a shuttle train service was launched between Teremky and Demiivska stations in Kyiv .
The accident on the stretch between Lybidska and Demiivska stations caused the passenger traffic of the Kyiv Metro on the blue line to drop by almost 20%.
