A large-scale fire in the Chernobyl zone continues, having already engulfed 1,200 hectares of forest; its containment is ongoing, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on Saturday, UNN writes.

The containment of a large-scale forest fire continues in the Exclusion Zone. As of 5:00 PM, the fire has covered 1,200 hectares—the spread of the fire is being facilitated by dry weather and sharp gusts of wind,

In total, 374 people are involved in extinguishing the fire, including 253 rescuers from the State Emergency Service.

"The situation is fully under control," the State Emergency Service emphasized.
