Explosions rang out in the Russian city of Cheboksary on the night of May 5, followed by a fire. A missile threat was declared in the region. This was reported by Russian social media channels and local authorities, according to UNN.

Residents of Chuvashia reported a series of explosions during the night. Following this, a fire was recorded in one of the city's districts.
According to OSINT analysis by the ASTRA project, the "VNIIR-Progress" plant may have been hit.
What is known about the facility
According to open-source data, the "VNIIR-Progress" enterprise manufactures products for the Russian army, specifically "Kometa" type antennas, which are used to protect drones from electronic warfare systems.
Also, according to information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the plant produces satellite receivers and antennas for Glonass, GPS, and Galileo navigation systems. These components are used in drones, particularly of the Shahed type, as well as in missiles for the "Iskander-M" and "Kalibr" systems and modules for guided aerial bombs.
There is currently no official confirmation of the strike on the enterprise from the Russian authorities. Information is being clarified.
