Khmelnytskyi is located on the banks of the Southern Bug River in western Ukraine. The city is the administrative center of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast. With a population of 274,452 as of 2022, the city covers an area of about 93 square kilometers and has a favorable geographical location. The city of Khmelnytskyi was first mentioned in 1431 as a Polish military outpost called Ploskyriv. In 1795, it was renamed Proskuriv, and in 1954, it was renamed Khmelnytskyi in honor of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, transforming it into an important industrial, trade, and cultural center.
