Repair and restoration work to preserve the roof of the Assumption Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, damaged by a Russian attack, has been completed. This was reported by the head of the State Emergency Service (SES) Andriy Danyk, writes UNN.
On the night of June 15, Russia once again demonstrated its true nature by striking one of Ukraine's main shrines, the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra. The Assumption Cathedral was damaged as a result of the attack. Immediately after the strike, SES rescuers began working. For more than a week, they worked where every meter has special value. Today, June 23, repair and restoration work to preserve the damaged roof has been completed
According to him, the work has been completed 100% of the planned scope. "Heat guns continue to operate at the site to dry the building structures and interior spaces," he reported.
As Danyk noted, during the work on the territory of the Lavra, over 100 rescuers from various units and more than 25 units of SES equipment were involved.
These are days of intense work, responsibility, and struggle to preserve Ukraine's priceless cultural and spiritual heritage. Behind the dry figures are people. Those who do not seek fame but daily protect the most precious – life, cultural heritage, and the future of Ukraine. I thank every rescuer who contributed to this work. For professionalism. For dedication to the cause. For preserving the shrine. Because even after the darkest night, we will be able to withstand and restore what the enemy is trying to destroy
