What is celebrated on June 30 in Ukraine and the world

This is the last day of the first summer month. It brings us important scientific and political UN dates, as well as a major church holiday that traditionally concludes the cycle of celebrations in honor of Christ's closest disciples, reports UNN.

International Asteroid Day (Asteroid Day)

An official UN day established on the initiative of scientists, astronauts, and cultural figures (including Queen guitarist and astrophysicist Brian May). The date was chosen not by chance — it was on June 30, 1908, that the massive explosion of the so-called Tunguska meteorite occurred. The purpose of this day is to raise humanity's awareness of the threat of Earth's collision with asteroids and to promote the development of planetary defense methods.

International Day of Parliamentarism

Another official UN holiday. It is celebrated in honor of the creation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union — the first international organization that united parliamentarians of the world on June 30, 1889. This day emphasizes the importance of parliaments in building democracy and protecting citizens' rights.

World Social Media Day (Social Media Day)

A modern holiday, established in 2010 by the well-known media resource Mashable. Its purpose is to recognize the colossal impact of social networks on global communication, information dissemination, business operations, and connecting people from different corners of the planet.

Synaxis of the Glorious and All-Praised Twelve Apostles

According to the new (New Julian) calendar, which the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church have adopted, traditionally on the day after the great feast of Peter and Paul, the church honors all twelve of Jesus Christ's closest disciples (Peter, Andrew, James the son of Zebedee, John, Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, Judas the son of James, Simon the Zealot, and Matthias, who replaced Judas Iscariot). This feast symbolizes their unity in preaching Christianity.
