The Ministry of foreign affairs of Ukraine announced an agreement with Poland on proper attention to the burial sites of Ukrainians on Polish territory. The parties confirmed that there are no obstacles to the exhumation of victims of the Volyn tragedy.
The Polish side assured Ukraine that due attention will be paid to the places of burials of Ukrainians in Poland. This was announced by foreign ministry spokesman Georgy Tihy during a briefing, reports UNN.
As for the exhumation processes. We would very much like this process to be at the expert, historical, and technical level. I know that the relevant institutions are working to ensure that this whole process takes place without obstacles. Why it is important is the wording that was in the joint statement that there are no obstacles. This refers to political obstacles. In other words, foreign ministers, as political figures, state that there are no political obstacles on this path
He noted that specialized institutions, the Ukrainian Institute of national memory, and the Ministry of culture of both countries continue to work.
As far as I know, they maintain regular contact and this process is now absolutely normal, standard. The last thing I heard was that the Ukrainian side was waiting for a list of specific places where work will be carried out
The speaker noted that the Ukrainian side assured that as soon as this list is received, there will be no obstacles , all this will be worked out.
"I want to assure you that during the negotiations, we received a clear assurance from the Polish side that absolutely the same important attention will be paid to the places of memory of Ukrainians in Poland on a mutual basis," Tihy said.
