Monte with the support of FAVBET won their first CS 2-ESL Challenger Jönköping 2023, receiving $50,000 and a place in the 19th season of the ESL Pro League, and Viktor "sdy" Oruyev was recognized as MVP. The Ukrainian team also climbed to seventh place in the HLTV rankings.
The eSports organization Monte, supported by FAVBET, has won the LAN CS 2 tournament ESL Challenger Jönköping 2023 in Sweden for the first time in its history, reports UNN.
In the tense grand final of the "Best of 3" format, the Ukrainians won two confident victories on Vertigo (13:10) and Anubis (19:16) maps, leaving no chance for the Turkish team Eternal Fire.
For winning the tournament, Monte received $50,000 and a ticket to ESL Pro League Season 19, a major offline tournament that will take place in Malta in the spring of 2024. During the competition , Monte beat the Russians from Virtus.Pro and also beat GamerLegion, who lost at the Paris Major 2023.
Following the ESL Challenger, Monte improved their position in the HLTV rankings, moving up to the seventh place and ahead of NaVi, and Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev from the team received the MVP title as the best player of the tournament. This is the first ever MVP award from HLTV at a challenge-level competition - the exception was made due to the performance of two teams from the world's top 10 at the tournament: Monte and Virtus.Pro.
"When we started working with Monte, we said that they had a huge potential, because they combine talent with a professional approach to development and dedication. We are happy to see that today this potential is turning into real victories. Congratulations to the guys and the entire Ukrainian esports community on this achievement!" FAVBET says.
Monte is a young Ukrainian team founded by Volodymyr "Woro2k" Velytenyuk and Dmytro Vovk, who was included in this year's Forbes 30 Under 30 list. The organization was named in honor of Volodymyr's hometown, Monastyryshche, in the Cherkasy region.
The team first made a loud name for itself by sensationally taking fifth place at this year's Paris Major and entering the top 10 of the world rankings. Recently, the team announced the expansion and creation of a new roster for Dota 2 competitions.
