Ukraine does not have enough exchange fund to return all prisoners - Coordination Headquarters

Ukraine currently does not have enough exchange fund to return all prisoners of war. The lack of resources captured from the enemy is one of the key challenges for the return of Ukrainian defenders. This was stated by Oleh Slobodyanyk, representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, during a briefing, reports UNN.

To carry out an exchange, you need to have an exchange fund. And no one else will provide it, except for military units. And this is again a question of the price of this exchange. Because by receiving an exchange fund, it is obvious that we are losing human lives.

- he stressed.

According to Slobodyanyk, the list of military units from which not a single prisoner of war has been returned yet takes up almost three A4 sheets. In addition, a big problem is that many Ukrainian civilians are in Russian captivity.

If tomorrow the question arises in the conditions that exist, to stop, some kind of truce to return everyone, the Russian side will be ready, perhaps, to talk about an exchange one to one. And we will not be able to return everyone. And this is an objective reality and truth that must be realized.

- he stressed.

The problem is also that the enemy is not interested in exchanges. Therefore, the Coordination Headquarters is working on a number of projects to form requests to stimulate the exchange process.

Let us remind you

The Coordination Headquarters previously reported that Ukraine has returned 4,306 people from captivity during exchanges and another 469 outside of exchanges in three years of full-scale war
