Trump will grant Kyiv a license to produce Patriot missiles, but production timelines are illusory - ISW

U.S. President Donald Trump hinted at granting a license for Ukraine to produce interceptor missiles for the Patriot. Ukraine faces difficulties intercepting ballistic missiles due to insufficient supply.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated that the United States will grant Ukraine a license to produce an unspecified type of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems, which are crucial for Ukraine's ability to defend against Russian ballistic missiles. This is reported in a article by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), according to UNN.
Details
It is noted that, according to the White House chief, the United States has not yet informed the American manufacturer about licensing Ukraine for production.
However, it is unclear how long it will take Ukraine to start producing interceptor missiles, as production capabilities will depend on the availability of basic components that make up the Patriot interceptor and the scaling of the entire supply chain that produces these components,
They emphasize that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are quite successful in intercepting cruise missiles and drones, but have difficulties intercepting ballistic missiles due to insufficient supply of interceptor missiles to Ukraine.
"Notably, Ukrainian forces did not intercept a single ballistic missile during Russia's two recent massive strikes. ... Russia can produce between 60 and 65 Iskander ballistic missiles per month. Russia may exploit this gap before Ukraine can produce its own Patriot interceptor missiles and intensify ballistic missile strikes on Ukraine to inflict maximum damage before Ukraine can more reliably defend itself," ISW concludes.
