US President Donald Trump announced direct talks with Tehran and added that there will be a "very big meeting" on Saturday, UNN reports citing the BBC.

The US President touched upon the topic of Iran's nuclear ambitions.

Trump says that "making a deal would be preferable to doing the obvious" - without specifying exactly what that means.

But he says it's "obvious" not what he and Israel want to "get involved in" if it can be avoided. Trump notes that the situation is moving into "very dangerous territory".

He adds that it is in Iran's interest for the negotiations to be successful.
