"There are expectations in European capitals that Putin and Trump could talk again by phone potentially as soon as today," Politico points out. One plugged-in official said they believe "a new call may happen either directly before or soon after the weekend." Similar signals "about an imminent chat between the two leaders" are reportedly coming from the German capital as well.
At the same time, the publication notes that "as always with Trump, nothing is set in stone." NBC reported overnight that administration officials say no call has been scheduled and that these officials are advising the president not to call Putin until he agrees to a ceasefire.
