In 2024, the police opened 4,700 criminal proceedings for illegal handling of weapons. Law enforcement officers seized 569 weapons, 1,500 grenades, and almost 200 kg of explosives.

It is noted that there is currently a negative trend - in 2023, law enforcement officers seized 1567 units of automatic weapons against 100 units of the same type in 2019.
Out of the 4,700 criminal proceedings initiated over illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives, 3,797 have been served with suspicion notices, and 3,212 have already been sent to court.
