They are sending fake “circles” in Telegram: the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported a new type of fraud

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has uncovered a new fraudulent scheme. Scammers are using fake "circles" in Telegram to extort money or spread phishing links. This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reports UNN.

Details

The Ministry of Internal Affairs explained how it works:

• attackers hack accounts and download voice or video messages of the user;

• they create a dialogue needed by scammers, in which you allegedly ask for money;

• they send fake videos to your friends and acquaintances.

The ministry said that if you received a suspicious "circle", you should check the information - "ask to write in another messenger or call." They also advise to enable two-factor authentication to protect your account.
