In Kyiv, the event “The Light of Memory and Hope Unites Us” was held, where about 1,000 children lit lamps in the shape of the number 659. The students also wrote letters to St. Nicholas, created gifts for the military, and laid a time capsule.

On World Children's Day, almost a thousand children from the capital and Kyiv region united to honor the memory of children who died during the 1000 days of war, reports UNN correspondent.

On November 20, World Children's Day, Kyiv hosted the event "The Light of Memory and Hope Unites Us." The event was organized at the Cadet Corps State Boarding Lyceum to honor the memory of children who died during the 1000 days of war. Students of Lyceum No. 3 in Irpin and Lyceum No. 1 in Kotsiubynske joined the charity event.

"Today's event is dedicated to the World Children's Day and 1000 days of this terrible war. The children showed with their action that our lyceum is a territory of goodness, happiness, and peace. Today is the day when we wanted to remind the whole world and Ukrainians that the brutal war continues. It is painful to watch a child remember a child who died. We all want peace, every Ukrainian child wants peace," said Natalia Golovikhina, director of the boarding school.

The students united and simultaneously lit lamps in the shape of the number 659, the number of young Ukrainians who died as a result of Russian aggression. The opening of the charity event began with the Residence of St. Nicholas and the Workshop of Good Deeds in the shelter of the boarding school. The children had the opportunity to write letters to St. Nicholas with wishes for Ukraine. They also took part in workshops on creating patriotic T-shirts. The students had the opportunity to create candles and greeting cards for the military, which will be delivered by volunteers. An important part of the event was also the laying of a time capsule in which children left a message for future generations.

"Given that we have a full-day school, unfortunately, we often visit the shelter. That's why we decided that now the shelter and St. Nicholas are more relevant than ever for every child, because everyone has the same dream, dreams should be bright. And children have to write about these dreams, create something and, most importantly, believe and realize them," said Tetiana Tsesarenko, deputy director of the Cadet Corps State Boarding Lyceum.

This is not the first time that the Cadet Corps State Boarding Lyceum has held such events. And, as the administration of the institution notes, they constantly organize various offline and online meetings, communicate not only with Ukrainian schools but also abroad.
