The government has expanded support for farmers: what you need to know

The Cabinet of Ministers expanded state support for farmers by increasing subsidies per hectare for small farmers, providing additional subsidies to farmers in the de-occupied territories, and introducing subsidies for keeping cattle, goats, and sheep.

The Cabinet of Ministers has adopted a resolution that provides for the expansion of support for the work of farmers, UNN reports.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution No. 300 "On Amendments to the Procedure for Using Funds Provided for in the State Budget to Support Farms and Other Agricultural Producers". This document expands the scope of state support for farmers registered in the State Agrarian Register and increases the amount of financial payments.

In particular, state support will be provided in the following areas:

- A budget subsidy per hectare for farmers who cultivate up to 120 hectares of agricultural land. The amount of this subsidy was increased from UAH 3.1 thousand to UAH 4 thousand per hectare.

- A separate budget subsidy for each hectare for farmers from the de-occupied territories or territories where military operations have ended. The amount of this support is UAH 8 thousand per hectare.

- A special budget subsidy for keeping cattle (cows) of all productivity types. Farmers keeping 3 to 100 cows can receive UAH 7 thousand per head.

- A special budget subsidy for keeping breeding stock of goats and/or sheep. The amount of this support is 2 thousand hryvnias per head for those who keep from 5 to 500 heads of goats and sheep.

Despite the ongoing war with Russia, Ukrainian farmers sowed 68.3 thousand hectares of spring grains and legumes in 12 regions for the 2024 harvest.
