The Finnish court refused to consider the complaints of Russians against the closure of the border with Russia
Kyiv • UNN
A Finnish court dismissed complaints about the closure of the border with Russia, ruling that the border decisions did not directly affect the applicants.
The Supreme Administrative Court of Finland did not consider appeals filed against the government's decision to close the border with Russia. This was reported by Yle, according to UNN.
Details
The court stated that the plaintiffs identified themselves as Finnish citizens or residence permit holders who belong to the Russian or Russian-speaking minority in Finland or are family members of a person belonging to this minority.
It is noted that some of the plaintiffs also allegedly included ethnic Finns who "have a special need to travel to Russia". They argued that the decision to close the border "discriminates against the Russian minority and violates fundamental rights.
The Supreme Administrative Court of Finland decided to dismiss the complaints as inadmissible. It noted that the border decisions did not directly affect the applicants' situation in such a way as to give them the right to appeal.
