Details

A presentation of the new book "Around the war in twenty stories" by British-Ukrainian writer Anna Shevchenko was held in London during the Volunteer Appreciation Night.

The book contains 20 stories about ordinary Ukrainians. These include a teacher who teaches classes in a bomb shelter; librarians who hid Ukrainian books during the occupation of Kherson; an equestrian champion who lost her horse in Bucha; and a little girl in Milan who shares the last candy she brings from her bombed-out city.

All the stories in the book are real, the book was printed during shelling 40 kilometers from the front, and the entire team - from the author to the book's transporters to London - worked on the book for free. All the money from the sale was supposed to go to the people described in the book, but they all refused and decided to donate to selected charities instead: to finance mine action equipment for farmers, to purchase medicines for the children's hospital in Lviv, to deliver tactical medicine to the front line, and to support the children's library in Kherson and the dog shelter in Kharkiv

- Anna Shevchenko said.
