Rutte on the meeting of NATO foreign ministers: they will discuss support for Ukraine during possible negotiations with the Russian Federation
Kyiv • UNN
NATO Secretary General Rutte said that the ministerial meeting will focus on ensuring a strong position of Ukraine for possible peace talks. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry rejects any alternatives to full membership in NATO.
For the first time in the past, NATO will ask for two days to come, so that Ukraine will be reconciled, if it were not for the sake of peaceful negotiations, it would be for the sake of a positive position. As stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, UNN sent to Reuters.
On the eve of the alliance's ministerial meeting, Rutte said that NATO is working on "building a bridge" to Ukraine's membership. But he said the most pressing issue is providing Kiev with additional weapons to repel Russian forces.
The meeting over the next two days will be very focused on how to make sure that Ukraine, whenever it decides to start peace talks, does so with positional force. And to achieve this, it is extremely important that Ukraine receives more military assistance
Rutte noted that he welcomes the recent announcements of the United States, Germany, Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania and Norway to provide additional military assistance to Ukraine.
