A riot broke out in penal colony No. 19 in the Volgograd region of Russia. The attackers, who claimed to be members of ISIS, took hostages, killed one FSIN officer and wounded several others.
An assault on a penal colony (VK-19) has begun in Russia, where unknown persons have taken hostages, UNN reports with reference to the Mash Telegram channel.
According to Mash, an additional ambulance crew was sent to the scene.

Earlier, Russian media reported that one of the men who seized VK-19 was allegedly wearing a vest with an improvised explosive device.
"He is holding an object similar to a detonator. It is not known where the colony could have gotten explosive and combustible substances," the Russian media reported.
