Russian missile near Lublin: Poland's prosecutor's office says without doubt it is an X-101, a specialist from Ukraine was involved in the examination

New findings regarding the Russian Kh-101 missile, which yesterday violated Polish airspace and fell in a field in Tarnawa-Kolonia in the Lublin Voivodeship in Poland, were announced by the spokesman of the Lublin Prosecutor's Office Marcin Kozak, stating that "it was manufactured in the second quarter of 2026 at a plant in the Russian Federation, in the Moscow region," writes UNN citing RMF24.

Marcin Kozak from the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin reported that "a specialist from Ukraine participated in the examination of the fragments of the Russian missile." He emphasized that "there is no doubt that it was a Kh-101, a cruise missile capable of carrying even nuclear warheads."

"We found the propulsion system and electronic components," the spokesman explained.

"It is physically impossible to identify every single component," he added, referring to reports that local residents are still finding remnants of the object that violated Polish airspace yesterday on their properties.

Kozak explained that if any resident of Tarnawa-Kolonia and the surrounding area finds something on their field that could be a fragment of the missile, they should report the find to the local police.

Today, an investigation into yesterday's incident was officially launched. It concerns articles of the Polish Penal Code regarding violations of airspace and creating a threat of an aviation disaster.

"We plan to interview witnesses and obtain all possible recordings that will allow us to reconstruct the missile's flight trajectory," Kozak explained when asked what the prosecutors handling the case will do. He emphasized that the investigators are cooperating with, among others, the Border Guard and the military.
