Both countries have different long-term goals. China advocates for its global dominance, while Russia seeks to focus on forming its own region where it would have unconditional dominance.

China and Russia could become rivals as early as the 2030s due to differences in strategic interests. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

Details

According to intelligence data, Moscow and Beijing will lose their status as situational allies against the backdrop of weakening US influence in the Eastern Hemisphere and the transformation of the global order.

The reason, as noted by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, lies in the difference between the long-term goals of both countries. China strives for global dominance, while Russia is focused on forming its own pan-region (a large geopolitical and economic union of states that seeks full self-sufficiency and control over significant territories - ed.).

At the same time, Sino-Russian contradictions may intensify amid the redistribution of influence in Asia. This refers to the Korean Peninsula, Vietnam, and other countries in the region-potentially, they could fall under Russian influence, as was the case during the USSR era.

Another factor could be the growing number of countries trying to avoid choosing between China and anti-Chinese alliances. This will significantly limit Beijing's capabilities, the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine stated.

Likely, the most favorable scenario for Russia is maintaining the current balance between the US and China, but without a decisive advantage for either side.
