Ukrainian power engineers have restored the second power line at the russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, ensuring a more stable and secure power supply to the facility.

On Thursday, March 14, Ukrainian power engineers restored the second power line to the russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. This was stated by the press service of NNEGC Energoatom, UNN reports.

Details

Today, on March 14, at 17:15, Ukrainian specialists restored the operation of the 330 kV Zaporizhzhia TPP-Ferrosplavna power line, which was under repair due to damage by the russian occupiers

- the company said in a statement.

It is noted that this line, together with the 750 kV Zaporizhzhia NPP-Dniprovska line, connects the plant to the unified energy system of Ukraine and provides power for its own needs.

Energoatom emphasized that  since the beginning of the russian occupation, Zaporizhzhia NPP has already experienced eight full blackouts and one partial blackout with the launch of emergency diesel generators and safety systems. Their failure threatens to cause an emergency.

Addendum

The Ministry of Energy adds that As of now, the main and backup lines are operating and fully supply Zaporizhzhia NPP's own needs.

Powering a nuclear power plant with a single line is extremely dangerous, because the power supply to such a facility must be stable and uninterrupted. Disconnecting all lines will mean another blackout and the threat of a nuclear incident at the NPP

- the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine emphasized.

Recall

Due to russia's occupation of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and the blocking of the automated radiation monitoring system, Ukraine and the international community receive information about the nuclear situation at the plant with a significant delay.
