According to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, more than 950,000 Ukrainians have found long-term refuge in Poland since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion.

According to him, almost a million Ukrainian citizens have officially arrived in Poland, but the number of Ukrainians in the country is probably many times higher.
As of the end of last year, more than 950 thousand Ukrainians found long-term asylum in our country, i.e., combined with obtaining a valid PESEL number. The actual number of Ukrainian citizens staying in Poland or temporarily staying after February 24, 2022, is, of course, several times higher

In addition, Sikorski said that in the two years since Russia's full-scale invasion , Poland has provided Ukraine with 44 military aid packages totaling almost $9 billion.

PESEL is an eleven-digit numerical symbol that identifies the holder. Every citizen of Ukraine who crossed the border of Poland after February 24, 2022 in order to obtain protection from the war with the aggressor is entitled to a PESEL number and the corresponding UKR status.
