Musk's lawsuit against OpenAI accuses the startup of abandoning its non-profit mission, which was to ensure that its AI research would benefit all of humanity. Musk sought a preliminary injunction to stop OpenAI from transitioning into a commercial corporation. In March, a federal judge dismissed the request, but allowed the case to be transferred to a jury trial in the spring of 2026.
