In Ukraine, conditions for the development of missile programs have already been created, but the main problem remains not the lack of state funding, but a critical shortage of teams ready to take on such complex projects. This was stated by the founder of startups MySat and Aerobavovna, Dmytro Khmara, reports UNN.

According to Dmytro Khmara, after Russia's massive shelling of Kyiv and the Kyiv region, requests have increased about why there are still no Ukrainian ballistic missiles and interceptors of ballistic missiles.

"Together with Yurii Vlasiuk (director of iLand – ed.) in 2023–2024, we were looking for teams capable of creating missiles. It was much harder than it might seem. Most did not even want to take on such projects. The reason is simple: missiles are extremely complex, time-consuming, expensive, and risky. Engines, electronics, software, integration with the military and air defense... Drones are much simpler, faster to develop, and much more popular among engineers and society. We had to literally persuade some teams," noted Dmytro Khmara in his Facebook post.

He emphasized that the widespread belief that the creation of missiles is solely the responsibility of the state does not correspond to reality. According to him, the Government and the Ministry of Defense fulfilled their task by creating support mechanisms for such developments and allocating significant funding for them.

"The task of the government and the Ministry of Defense is to create conditions for the emergence of such projects: funding, support programs, the opportunity to work. And these conditions were created. Billions of hryvnias were allocated. The problem turned out to be unexpected – there were not enough teams ready to take on such complex work. The money could not be distributed for such projects!!!" Khmara explained.

He added that today only a few Ukrainian companies have taken on the risk of creating their own missile systems.

"They are creating Ukrainian missiles today. There are very few of them. It is extremely difficult for them. But they are the ones doing what others only write about in comments. Meanwhile, there are thousands of people who demand every day: 'Give us Ukrainian missiles!' And most of them have done absolutely nothing to make these missiles appear. At the same time, they blame only the authorities, not the lack of people ready to solve such tasks," noted Dmytro Khmara.

He emphasized that Ukraine will have both its own missiles and satellites.

"Missiles are not born from Facebook posts. They are built by engineers, entrepreneurs, and teams who are ready to work for years, take risks, and take responsibility. And yes, Ukrainian missiles will exist. As will Ukrainian satellites," he wrote.

Reminder

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that during a meeting of the Staff, the issue of weapons production was discussed. In particular, one of the discussion points was the development of the missile program: the production of its own ballistic and anti-ballistic system.
