The SBU interrogated two Chinese citizens captured in the Donetsk region. They told how they were recruited into the Russian army and about their first combat mission.
Investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted the first interrogations of Chinese prisoners of war, who were captured by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Donetsk region. They told how they ended up at war and what tasks they performed as part of the Russian army in Ukraine. This is reported by the press service of the SBU, reports UNN.
We are talking about two citizens of China: one was captured by soldiers of the 2nd MB of the 157th OMBR near the village of Tarasivka, the other - by servicemen of the 1st MB of the 81st OAEBR near Bilohorivka
According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the captured Chinese have no combat wounds, but receive the necessary medical care, as provided for by the Geneva Convention.
For initial investigative actions, they were taken to Kyiv. They are kept in proper conditions that meet the requirements of international law. Communication with prisoners takes place through interpreters
According to both foreigners, they were captured by Ukrainian soldiers on their very first combat mission.
One of the defendants, an unemployed man born in 1991, was recruited by a representative of the Russian Federation directly in China. In February 2025, he arrived in Moscow and signed a contract. The other, born in 1998, arrived in Russia in December 2024, allegedly for tourist purposes. According to him, then, while in Russia, he applied for a contract, responding to an advertisement on the Internet about recruitment for service and payment of 2 million rubles
Currently, the SBU is checking the testimony of the prisoners and conducting the necessary investigative actions to establish all the circumstances of the participation of Chinese citizens in the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The investigation is being conducted under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes).
