"In the occupied city, a composition of five sgraffito (a technique for creating wall images) by Serhiy Barannik and Ahmet Fathi was destroyed," the city council said, noting that this was reported by journalist and researcher of Mariupol mosaics Ivan Stanislavsky.

The panels were reportedly created in the assembly hall of school #7 in 1990. These were a few examples of avant-garde interventions in monumental art. "Now, after the "repair" by the occupiers, the assembly hall has bare white walls," the mayor's office noted.

The Mariupol City Council reminded that the occupiers destroyed dozens of mosaic panels in the city. Among them are works by Alla Gorska, Lelia Kuzmenkova, Valentin Konstantinov, Ernst Kotkov, Valery Lamakh, and Ivan Litovchenko.
