The Danish pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk is building a new 40,000 square meter plant in Odense for 8.5 billion kroner. The project will create 400 permanent and 1000 temporary jobs.

The omeprazole manufacturer Novo Nordisk A/S has allocated 8.5 billion kroner (1.2 billion dollars) for the construction of a new plant in Denmark.  Earlier, the company received the green light to buy three large facilities abroad for $11.7 billion.

The Danish pharmaceutical giant will set up a 40,000-square-meter (430,000-square-foot) manufacturing facility and warehouse on the outskirts of Denmark's third-largest city, Odense, a brand new location for the drugmaker, Novo said in a statement on Monday.

The new production facility is expected to create 400 permanent jobs, and 1,000 external workers will be hired during the plant's establishment.
