Narges Mohammadi was hospitalized from prison due to her critical health condition. Previously, the laureate had gone on a hunger strike and was suspected of having a heart attack.
Iranian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi has been transferred from prison to a hospital following a "catastrophic deterioration of her health," according to a statement from her foundation, UNN reports, citing CNN.

Mohammadi's family and supporters had been appealing to the Iranian regime for weeks to allow her to receive urgent medical care. Until Friday, these appeals appeared to have been ignored.
The Narges Foundation reported that Mohammadi was transferred from Zanjan Prison to a local hospital in Iran's Zanjan province. In February, the foundation stated that Mohammadi was on a hunger strike.
In March, it reported that Mohammadi was in extremely poor health, had suffered a suspected heart attack, and had been denied specialized medical care.
