No critical situation at the stations of the "blue" metro line - KCSA

There is no critical situation at the stations of the "blue" line of the Kyiv subway, there is no threat to human life.
There is no critical traffic situation around the stations on the Obolonsko-Teremkivska subway line, and there is no threat to human life. There have been no flooded stations and there are none. This was reported by Ruslan Kandybor, Director of the Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration, as quoted by the KCSA, UNN reports.
The metro stations in this area were not closed for a single day. From December 8 to December 12, they were used as shelters, and during this period, traffic was suspended at 6 stations on the blue line. On December 13, two-way traffic was organized on two tracks between Teremky and Lybidska stations. Currently, trains do not run only between Lybidska and Demiivska metro stations
Kandybor added that between the stations, where two-way traffic on two tracks is organized, the passenger traffic is approximately 10,000 people on weekdays and approximately 4,500-5,000 people on weekends.
At the same time, for the convenience of passengers, ground transportation is additionally organized, duplicating six stations of the "blue" metro line. In particular, 74 buses and 20 trolleybuses operate on routes 2-M and 43-K. In addition, there is a temporary bus route No. 60 connecting Lybidska and Demiivska metro stations.

The Kyiv City State Administration reminded that a system of compensation for trips due to forced transfers at the Lybidska metro station is also in place. The city will compensate for travel on temporary routes No. 2-M, 60, 43-K and additional trips on the blue line.
"According to preliminary conclusions, technical errors were made during the construction of the tunnel, because three months after the opening of the stations, water leaked between Demiivska and Lybidska stations, carrying sand. After that, the subway specialists carried out constant work on sealing and maintaining the cracks. In November 2023, significant leaks appeared with rock being carried away through the cracks, meaning that the cracks were progressing. The department engaged the State Research Institute of Building Structures to find out the causes of the situation and received conclusions that there is a threat of tunnel collapse," Kandybor said.

On November 8, the Standing Committee on Technogenic and Environmental Safety and Emergencies met to decide to stop train traffic on the section.
It is also noted that the right lane of the roadway from Mykola Khovnevskoho to Lobanovskoho boulevards is blocked. Mykola Mikhnovskoho to Valeriy Lobanovsky avenue.
"As a result, we managed to prevent the threat of destruction of the track between Demiivska and Lybidska stations. Currently, there is no threat of destruction of capital structures due to soil subsidence. There are only temporary structures around, which will be dismantled to carry out the relevant work," emphasized the Director of the Department.
According to him, boreholes were drilled in the areas of soil subsidence near the Demiivska metro station to conduct geological research. The results will be ready within two weeks. The scope and types of work to be carried out at this site will also be determined in the near future. It is planned to complete the works and resume traffic within six months.
