The National Bank of Ukraine has presented a set of commemorative coins "Shchedryk - Carol of the Bells" dedicated to the musical symbol of Christmas - the world-famous song "Shchedryk." This was reported by the NBU, UNN writes.
For the first time in Ukrainian numismatics, we chose the shape of a bell for the coin. After all, the melody of "Shchedryk" resembles a bell, and the American version of this world-famous song is called "Carol of the Bells." The synergy and unity of two cultures - Ukrainian and American - contributed to the creation of the composition, which is now a symbol of Christmas around the world
Details
The set of three silver coins "Shchedryk - Carol of the Bells" continues the Ukrainian Heritage series.
Each of the three coins included in the set is shaped like a bell, has a face value of 10 hryvnias and is made of 999 silver.
The obverse of the central coin of the set depicts a nativity scene with a Christmas star. The obverse of the other two coins features composite compositions of angels. The National Bank noted that they symbolize purity, strength, God's help, protection and light of the Christmas holiday, as well as lines from the song "Shchedryk."
The reverse of the central coin features a stylized composition of the first performance of "Shchedryk" by a choir in 1922, with a silhouette of a swallow, the main character of the song, above the choir.
The reverse of the other two coins features stylized colored flags of Ukraine and the United States, a composition of historic religious buildings in Kyiv and New York, and a golden lace background with bells, symbolizing the filling of space with the magical sounds of a carol tune.
