Details
During the hearing in federal court in Oakland, Musk stated that the company lawyer's questions were intentionally confusing.
"Your questions are not straightforward. They are designed to trick me,"
The case is being heard by a jury of nine people. It concerns a lawsuit by Musk, who accuses OpenAI of deviating from its original mission of creating artificial intelligence for the benefit of society.
Essence of the Lawsuit
Musk is seeking billions in compensation, as well as changes in the company's leadership and strategy. He claims that OpenAI's leadership, specifically Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, abandoned the non-profit model and shifted to commercial activities for profit.
The company rejects these allegations. They state that Musk was aware of the changes, supported the idea of commercialization, and was dissatisfied that he did not lead the company.
Positions of the Parties
OpenAI also claims that Musk seeks to bolster his own artificial intelligence project, which lags behind in popularity.
During the examination, Savitt mentioned a 2015 letter from Musk in which he proposed creating a commercial structure alongside the non-profit one.
"Discussions and brainstorming are not an agreement,"
The hearings are ongoing, and the court's decision could significantly impact the future development of OpenAI and the balance of power in the field of artificial intelligence.
