The self-proclaimed president of Belarus has announced a possible complete shutdown of the Internet in the event of mass unrest during the upcoming elections. In 2020, similar restrictions were already applied with his personal authorization.

According to him, four years ago, access to the Internet was cut off in Belarus, allegedly because of attempts by other states to interfere in the country's fate and incite mass unrest.
