Yuriy Yurachkivsky, great-grandson of the Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko, scientist and bridge champion, dies.
The great-grandson of the prominent Ukrainian writer Ivan Franko, Yuriy Yurachkivsky, has died. This was reported by the head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Maksym Kozytskyi, UNN reports.

After completing his postgraduate studies, Yurii worked at the Institute of Gerontology and later at the Institute of Cybernetics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In 2001, he was invited to work in the United States as a distinguished scientist.
In the first half of the 1970s, Yuriy Yurachkivsky was one of the founders of sports bridge in Ukraine. He was a champion and winner of the Ukrainian Bridge Cup, captain of the national team, and for many years headed the Kyiv Federation of Sports Bridge. At one time, he even took second place at the New York Bridge Championships.
