The Israeli Defense Forces reported that "numerous suspicious airborne targets crossing the border from Lebanon" were identified overnight after sirens sounded in the Upper Galilee. "Several interceptors were launched in the direction of the targets, and a crash was detected near Ayelet HaShahar," the IDF said in a statement on social media.
"As a result of the attack in the area, an officer and a soldier of the Israel Defense Forces sustained moderate injuries and were evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment. Their families have been notified," the statement said.
Israeli firefighters were reportedly working to extinguish a fire that broke out in the area as a result of the attack.
This morning, after sirens sounded in the Western Galilee, the IDF reported that "an interceptor was launched in the direction of a suspicious air target crossing the border from Lebanon." The incident is over. Due to the danger of falling debris from the interceptor, sirens were activated.
