Iran and the US continue to exchange messages through Pakistani intermediaries - Media

Iran continues to exchange messages with the United States through a Pakistani intermediary after the failure of weekend talks. This was stated by a representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, reports UNN with reference to CNN.

Details

There is uncertainty about what will happen after the two-week truce ends, and speaking at a press conference, Esmail Baghai did not confirm its extension.

At the moment, as I said, negotiations are ongoing through a Pakistani intermediary, and it remains to be seen how serious the other side is about its statements regarding diplomacy

- he said, according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA.

It is up to the United States to prove its seriousness, because it has repeatedly not only failed to fulfill its obligations, but has actually undermined the negotiating table

- Baghai added.

According to Baghai, there are no new proposals from the Iranian side, and the original 10-point package put forward by Tehran in the negotiations has also not been changed.

The main points of contention remain unclear, but Baghai called some of the US demands "unreasonable and unrealistic." He again insisted on Iran's right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes.

The "10-point proposal" from Iran is a peace plan proposed by the US to end hostilities. The US has proposed its own 15-point plan, which has not yet been fully disclosed, but reportedly includes Iran's commitment to abandon nuclear weapons, transfer highly enriched uranium, limit Tehran's defense capabilities, and resume operations in the Strait of Hormuz.
